Carpathian nobles of Arcavim

with 2 comments

Grim visions surrounds you when you land in a new place called Arcavim. Everything looks familiar, like you are somehow home. Grim vision of chaos combines with silk. Romanticism to the red core of a dark winter long night. The soil is changing to stone and the stone grows inside your fingers. There is no dungeon or cave. Everything walks in a surreal daylight. A noble appears from beyond and disappears looking for a soothing view for his eyes. At some point the grey starts growing like a forgotten feeling. The northern lights went off ages ago. What is left is only the noblesse.

I am not known to love RP but something grows inside me regarding it. Maybe my friends, maybe the acceptance that I reached to most deepest points in my old friends minds. Maybe because nothing really surprises me anymore when we are talking about this metaverse. Maybe SL has reached his human residents limits and has nowhere else to go from here. This outfit coming from Drack Diesel it is a very pleasant surprise. The outstanding attention for details, the quality and the amount of work put inside this. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to feel the forgotten times. I highly recommend to anybody who wants a high quality item in your fashion inventory.

Redgrave and TonkTastic

with one comment

Was something about styling which came into my mind after brief dialog with Viola Leigh the creator of so much nice stuff from Redgrave. I was thinking about styling and what kind of job a stylist have in SL. Apart from styling certain magazines and collections, a styling work in SL is pretty much useless. I mean we could be working for, let’s suppose a guy who wants a fast track tol look a like or something and which is smart enough to know that he cannot get it done by itself. Or maybe a fast track to a enterprise look. That mean about 1% about the total grid and I am pretty much sure that is less that 1% nowadays. In fact what stoke me was why did I waited so much to feature these Athlete Sneakers and why they did stayed in my inventory for such a long time. The answer is: I didn’t found something good enough to match almost exactly the level of realism of the shoes, and in the same grey tones. I would like to think that this look is a sportier asian look but since I am not part of that culture I wouldn’t know. Let’s call it maybe car tuning mechanic or whatever…

On Emery late spring

with 2 comments

Wanting to announce the new late spring collection which is in works right now at Emery. This time Sejordan is putting some more emphasis on male products. The suit featured is by far one of his best products. It keeps following the same hard edge of the hand drawn 80’s fashion.

By definition 80’s are the times when business suits entered the fashion world. The common, male and female suits, was the emphasis on big shoulders, at that time was fashionable and after all the colors were dark ones implying power and elitism and also brought to usage the pink and warm toned shirts. It was a difficult time just by remebering how many influences had upon us and fashion world TV series like Dynasty and Dallas. That also brought us the arrival of the yuppie fashion and oh god what that left us with. We don’t even want to remember the famous shell suits and the vivid colors of the headbands.

The excellence of the 80’s is brought to us by Emery and they have more to come in the following days. The material used is nicely fold the ray lighting is excellent the texture is high quality.

Also in this post I am using some new poses from a new animator, Rogan Diesel of Dieselworks

The slrevolution corporate – enterprise ideas

with one comment

This is a response to the latest post on thslrevolution blog regarding some advices Valiant Westland is making towards a more “competitive” SL in the middle of the whole virtual worlds market. His first idea was an incredible and blatant rant against opensource, clearly without any kind of ideea that even the wordpress he is using is opensource. Dear mr Westland, I suggest you to get you head stuck out of the windows centric world. The first argument: after the SL client was opensource allowing every user with enough skills to understand what is going on to commit changes in the main trunks the SL client progressed in every way, not because LL didnt had enough programers but because they were simply out missing the scenery. When the client was opensourced a majority of fixes, improvement stability issues and don’t forget features users were always requesting found their way in the client. So before your rant you should be aware that there is only ONE trunk and different compilers for different platforms. That allows us, the opensource crowd to help your XP client be more stable, faster and with more features. So the competitive suicide you are talking about is nothing else but a try to make it better, yes through opensource. How much the SL client progressed after its openourcing, how many users were able to compile their own patches in their clients and make it available to the world ? Read here in the wiki more and you maybe will understand.

I don’t even want to know how better are going to be developed the simulator software in a opensourced model.

But, let’s go further and talk about inworld messaging. The actual inworld messaging is based on SMTP and using yes opensource servers. What mr Westland is talking is a pure another ideea form his windows centric world called Exchange. I am asking other exchange advanced users around, how many times did it crashed, how many times did you missed the simplicity of a postfix 15 minutes implementation and yes how many months took to implement exchange and first how much the implementation of that impacted the users and their busineses. We are not talking about the money cause exchange is advertised to be free, FOR those who are purchasing a coporate licencing. Or wait this is not corporate because the clients are suposed to be outsiders of LL that is going to add another 75 usd to the membership and ban free users to use it once again.

What about real document creation, am I missing the point or this is a virtual world ? Am i missing the fact that this SL client is not a Word? Do we need to have text manipulation tools in SL. The big corporations using SL are using separate application for that. I suggest simply using Openoffice and Gimp. Which are by the way programs used by the bigest lingerie producer in SL yes, Insolence.

Community calendars, the vast majority of the modeling agencies I am part of are already using google docs for sharing info and dates.

Robust presence, aren’t we loosing steam ? Yes I know! The presence server is a long discussed issue in SL developing and jira communities. With the opensourcing of that things are going to go better. The main issue seems to be the outsourcing of the databases behind the LL servers.

SMS and email integration, let’s look around ? How many of the users are wanting to be brought out of their beds to answer a customer support issues sent to their blackberries in the middle of the night just because in the other half of the world is daytime.

Mesh content support, that is not going to happen. Just use sculpties as everybody else is.

The conclusion is that the post is a meaningless rant over some features that a small group might be using.

The secret is an enterprise will not ever want to use SL for business purposes if they are not in the possibility of controlling at least the simulator software and the connection to the main grid. Any IT team will deny without a real control. To outsource a SIM to LL is expensive. Instead of the LL should have to open up the grid to new connections. I can host at any time simulator servers in one of my datacenters at half the cost of LL does it already, and I dont have to be sensitive to Amazonaws issues.

I have to say that I really like theslrevolution posts, they are raising real and interesting issues so yes I am little bit disapointed because of the latest post.

Jean – rock@aoharu

with 6 comments

This is the male version of a quite hot wearable from Aoharu. As in the previous Aoharu post this jacket is filled with realism. The sculpt is taken to the next level, in fact i think only my eyelashes and some prims in my hair are still normal prims. This is the expected progress in the use of prims in SL and fashion is clearly a main benefiting agent. It is a very spring related item for some years the denim jacket keeps reinventing itself while winter is going away. At the same time denim jackets are bringing a vintage James Dean like help to your outfit.

As the ultimate bad boy jacket this one has warm detailed texture, I choose a darker tone simply because I like the original indigo tones of the vintage jeans. Denim jacket are a classic, keeping down a look, just throw a denim jacket to some trousers and you are on. Denim keeps going out and in of the fashion industry, there is always some creator fiddling with denim. You can wear it anyway as long is NOT the 1985 jacket from your high school. And also please do not add some fur to it, that is just douche bag. Oh and please do NOT wear it with blue same tones denim pants. That is just so 1990 bazaar look alike.

Real mens wear pink – on monday

with one comment

Yeh monday again so pink might be a soothing color. Psychologically pink is a calming color but the greatest quality of the pink color is that it fits any kind of skin tone. Beside that wearing pink shows a lot of confidence but also with a closed in sensitivity. In combination with a navy color and the whole blue range makes an easy to look and tight outfit. Unless you are making the mistake to wear pink accessories, which will definitely ruin it. I recommend black for the accessories. Some say that wearing pink is a clear sign of losing identity or having masculinity issues. So what? Feel free to wonder about it. After all pink is the color of fighting breast cancer aid bands. Some says also that “real mens wear pink” is some kind of marketing ploy.

The outfit is again Lelutka based I think the striped pink shirt Thora made is one of the best looking shirts right now. The prim belts coming with the jeans also fit very well my avatar shape and also with the right amount of luminance the prim legs are blending very well with the pants texture.

Belleza skins – Miguel

with one comment

It was a buzz over the grid couple of weeks ago that Tricky Boucher was working on a new male skins. Well the new Belleza skins are due to be released today and just for you I am giving you a preview about it.

From the first try I can tell you the buzz was right, the new skins are clearly better over the old ones. I featured the Ewan line of Belleza skins a while ago. So here we go. About the pictures: the pics were taken in my studio with my lightning in front of my usual white background so your inworld result may vary according to your lighting settings. I used Gimp to crop and re-sample all the pictures and a special plugin to link them into panoramic views. The pics are available in large formats for your viewing pleasure, just click on them and wait to load. The skins previewed are only the Eyeliner ones.

The style of these new skins in unbelievable with exactly the right mix between natural look and idealised images we all dream of. The tone range is perfect, for myself I will be choosing the pale tone. The distribution of the tones across the range is perfect with a excellent level of detailing on the extremes. The eyeliner is definitely the best feature over the grid, it is very thin and a excellent boyliner. I was talking with Tricky about a good eyeliner this is definitely better than the little bit too thick eyeliner available on Ewan.

The facial features are covering the whole range of styles too. The facial detail are very warm and detailed, the face skin texture is very well chosen and treated.

Everything about this skins says top class skins, I highly recommend it to all the hot guys around. Tricky is definitely a very good skin designer and deserves to be watch closely since a lot of more new releases are expected in the following weeks.

The rest of the outfit is composed from the Party Suit from Edo and the Bernard hair from Kmadd.

Lelutka spring – style: minimalism

leave a comment »

Definitely a classic event in a long row of special events of Lelutka line, the yesterday show was one of the best shows in the 1st quarter. Specially designed with a so NY fashion week light industrial themed building and closed to public was a very near to reality experience as a spectator and I think as a model too. Lag free and chat restricted with a contemporary rock audio line was relaxing and minimalism at it’s best.

The runway itself was filled with minimalistic and simple looking models with very simplistic poses. And this was clearly eye catching especially when I am thinking that the actual fashion scene is filled with ample realistic looking effects. With this the Lelutka show fit my style and taste just right. Open to dream colors, simple shades of blue and beige, light metalic greys was the color theme of the show.

The collection was very well tight togheter in style, colors and accesories a clear top up a notch in the fashion scene. Melting real fashion with virtual designs was always what Thora and Minnu made at best. As for the skins too, the realistic looking is amalgamated with soft details resulting in a almost idealistic image of the avatar. Simplicity all over, relaxing minimalism.

A classic

with one comment

This suit is new over the online shop of Armidi, shoparmidi.com. I am not a fan of many attachments on the avatar body but this suit has a extremely nice touch over the prims. After a while I think that making textures it is not enough so you need to attach different physical layers over your avatar. This tendency is widespread among high quality content creators of SL. The suit I am wearing is a classic one. The only twist from the classical nature is the open collar and I know a closed collar with tie looks pretty when done in texture but looks better this way. This has a reused Cambridge shirt, another Armidi classic.

About my absence over the blogosphere. The absence is totally motivated by RL issues (not covered) but has something to do with SL too. It was a long time I was feeling surprised by some creations. There are no surprises anymore, there have been weeks from when a certain creation was a pleasure to see. This post is just a on the road one, keep reading till I am figuring out what is going wrong.

The black issue

with 6 comments

Yes it is a black issue. Not by race but only by colors. And it is bad, always eating only the darkest chocolate, the blackest espresso, luckily I am used to black. I dunno why but the black is soothing for me. It is not by far lack of imagination but the black has it’s own immersing power. I have a high rated decisions making real life job. I think somehow that the black is going to conquer me completely.

The black is a rich basic after all, with a large coverage form romance to business looks. Will fit best with something else. But matching black to black, in textures and materials it is the hardest thing you ever tried. The black and and the not so basic black is the most used in the latest NY fashion. The black is the new everything you wanted.

For this look i added a little bit of camo with the texture of the hat and the boots.
