D/S Fashion, urban

with 5 comments

Urban clothing is not your average everyday fashion statement, but it does make a very bold statement. Urban clothing is a fashion movement mostly seen in underground nightclubs and is popular among the punk rock crowd.

This modern line style of clothes includes the unusual looks of Industrial fashion; Gothic fashion and D/S fashion and appear very counterculture in their attempt to find their individual identity. Cyberpunk clothing is accessorized with post modern computer components, wiring and electronics to their gear.

Industrial fashion incorporates the look of military uniforms, high combat boots and a blend of gothic and cyberpunk.

Gothic fashion enters the dark side, consisting mainly of black clothes with accessories made of silver or pewter or rusted metals.

Finally, D/S fashion is another facet of specialty and life style clothing. It usually consists of very revealing, lingerie, black leather or plastic attire with high heeled boots and fishnet stockings. Of course wearing a silk with high heel boots in SL is a big fashion no-no, usually the most recommended is go bare foot.

I am not going to touch the philosophy behind d/s lifestyle, it is a very personal thing and this post took me while to grow inside me and grow the necessary confidence. Thanks to growing interest shown yesterday on fashion consolidated cafe group I decided to surface this aspect.

Not going to write too much either about this, mainly because i will upset the hardcore fashionistas which are trying to fit everything just in one representative style. Well this should be taken as a blend between: neko urban and some d/s accessories and that is all.

Just a simple prayer

with 2 comments

by Iustinian Tomsen

A soul is a essence which was given to us – to each individual, to his or her parents and loved ones, to guard and watch over for a limited time. When the time comes for the soul to be returned to its rightful owner, should we not be willing to return it?

And who is going to watch over this passage of a soul back to his creator, and who is going to ease the translation between these two worlds ? Just a simple prayer would be more than enough.

In fashion, by 2000 any dark color was thought acceptable at a funeral, with attendance being considered far more important than the clothing.  Evidence of this was shown when H. R. H Prince Charles chose to wear a dark navy blue suit to the funeral of the Princess of Wales in 1997, because it was the suit Diana most liked him to wear.

Lately the active participation in a grief has been drastically lowered. This may be why so many do not initially understand the nature of the grieving. This is my opinion and in regards of 1st life events. When it come to SL, I am sure that the nature of a grieving is unknown and it is more related to the dram others are trying to bring in. I am sure that somewhere in SL they are cemeteries and place to grieve, but I am unsure of the whole process and what is supposed to mean. What I am about to show you, consist of the outfit Prayer of CheerNo Destiny form AC Store. Yet again, surprisingly, a man wearing a veil is unforeseen. It is part of his new and amazing spring collection which is going to be launched today.

Pan-european

with one comment

by Iustinian Tomsen

The suit I am bout to present is what defines best pan-European fashionable items. It is worn in 1st life in so many countries.

It is originating from Italy in mid 70’s when ideas about blending formals with casuals leaded to new brands and to new fashion values. This european phenomenon fired up the yuppie fashion in US when Wall Street formals started wearing sport shoes with their business suits. This is utterly one of the most cozy and easy to wear suits without leading to warnings and gossips about you.

The major colors, dark red, grey and blueish greenish denims are very well blended together, the shadows are well defined on the jacket part. I personally found the leg sculpties very easy to handle even they have a unseen before shape but once fitted to your sizes they blend perfect with the texture of the jeans.

Fall with me

with one comment

by Iustinian Tomsen

He was just experiencing a burst of creative energy. “The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of His hands”.

Join me in this meditation and let us fall back into the heaven which burst us out eves ago.

I am sent down from the sun, so if the dark should fall on me, you’d show me where to run again.

I ran toward you. I called your name, but it was like you didn’t hear me. You didn’t even turn your head, just kept looking down on something. I called you again and then when you didn’t answer, I ran toward you. It wasn’t a nice run; you know how hard it is not to fall down when you run in the cornfield.

I almost reached you, almost, but then I kind of tripped, and looked down, trying to see what almost made me fall. It was some kind of rock, I think, but it doesn’t matter. The thing is, when I looked up, a second later,

I was gone. I just disappeared.

This post it is a preview of one of most amazing new creators of SL, the people behind AC STORE. The outfit I am wearing is not released yet. It will be on Friday or over the weekend. What is surprising about this outfit? For me is the message it is carrying, faith, in a way only Latinos people can understand it, a everyday blend of life, creativity and religion.

This is not a collection with flowers and spring color all over, this is a surprisingly collection the way a 1st life designer it is using to overwhelm his public.

As fashionability he is the first creator I ever heard blending religious icons into creations and also introducing leg warmers into male fashion. I was honored to get one personal preview of the spring collection and I am telling you, what you can see inhere is just a little part of the whole creation.

The cap

with 3 comments

The 2003 season was the season when DG introduced the caps in fashion shows, he sported more like the style of the 70 truck drivers. You certainly don’t expect to see them on a high fashion runway because you’re always thinking this is going to be the most cutting edged stuff. Well my favorite caps are those in the 90’s style, aka MTV generation ones and yes I am MTV generation. Not in so many various forms, the cap didn’t change much along the years.

And with the arrive of sculpties in SL we got to see better and better caps. The latest one was one found in Sey store, a surprising discovery. I did love Calista Flockhart wearing a cap, Cindy Crawford too. Along this fascination for the caps wearing one is an mainly an american style statement. The jacket come from Truth with a lovely neck scupltie part, so easy to fit also adorable hand cuffs. The destroyed jeans are coming from HCT, one of the most cute stores around.

Yet another mash-up…

Yet another mash-up

by Iustinian Tomsen

Not so many words about SL Fashion today but a question about you your internal organization, your opinions about how SL fashion world is organized and how can we make it better.

My opinion is to let those who are smart, talented, and educated make the best decisions possible for themselves, letting the market sort out which one is right, while not forcing anyone to follow, except by example and offering a better lifestyle. The only acceptable use of force to me is for self-defense, and the best solution of all is to simply refuse entry to your private property to those you don’t like. Though there are exceptions, and is not for blowing off steam, I like to go in combat zones especially in Asian ones where I like to practice my Samurai swordsmanship on lifeless target balls.

Feel free to express yourself by commenting this post.

My question is: Do we have a real civic life or a public and a private sphere ?

The outfit which came in my mind today is pure mash-up. The jacket comes form Aoharu, a place every fashion girl heard about, the thermal is from Massimo, the jeans from Armidi.

This look is a reminiscence of my “slate oriented” post. The general color is slate and if a color would detain a philosophy in itself this one wouldn’t say more but keep it simple.

The look and the feeling of the textures is great and represents the “shinny metallic trend” for the in world fashion. I could use the same low rise chinos but i preferred the more realistic look of the elephant outfitters jeans. I tinted the jacket in order to make it more fit better my personal style. The original color however was sky blue.

Daytime DJ

Daytime DJ

by Iustinian Tomsen

What is a daytime DJ? It is not a trick performer DJ, or one who has to maintain a decent dance floor, he is the one responsible to cool down those after hours late clients, the one who has to play hi-low tunes during the day, while you are enjoying a refreshing cocktail, on a hot and white sand beach, fighting the bad mood of the non-sense, between playing Ibiza style or atmospheric style.

He is the one responsible with the early clients of a club and phasing off silently out of stage when the night DJ comes along.

Hell of a job especially while fighting a hangover from the night before. But he is the one who makes you live again, who tries to wake you up, who moves you into the deep soul of your essence, who carry you back into a night of party, again and again, he is the missing link of a full week party cycle.

He is the one who wanders around empty beaches, exploring new tunes, building play lists in his mind, searching for something in the sound of the waves, searching for something to carry him on through the day
.

I only have appreciation words for this outfit. Is blending perfectly with the nature of the words in the upper paragraph. The shirt is Indigo and the pants are Nicky Ree. The textures are very nice done, having a very aerial and fine feeling, the wrinkles on the pants are perfect.

Hi, my name is Iustinian and I am geek

Hi, my name is Iustinian and I am geek

by Iustinian Tomsen

Geeks don’t have to be helpless chum in the dating-game shark pool. We have some advantages; with a little understanding of human ethology we can learn how to use them effectively.

Comment from a geek girl: “Brains do turn some of us on, but…”

Comment from another geek girl: “Yes! Yes! Yes! Men who can speak fluently and intelligently are sexy!”

I am not talking about being a geek in 1st life but I am talking about the issues which are starting to appear when a real life geek understands that he can get his appearance changed so much in SL, and even to start role playing but failing later because emotional issues. The biggest issue is clearly the oversensitivity a geek has almost naturally.

This needs saying because geeks have an unusual relational failure mode, also common among poets and intellectuals of other stripes. It’s a combination of timidity, self-consciousness, and over-analysis that makes it difficult for the afflicted geek to stop worrying about his or her relationships enough to actually live them.

Enough psychology for today and let’s get back to our main aim, to make a sexy geek outfit. The items used are coming from Fuse and Armidi. No need to say more. Fuse and Armidi are best known for their high quality clothing.

Cyberish, nekoish, …ish

by Iustinian Tomsen

Well, it is Friday. I know my Friday posts are hitting way high on the visiting counter so must be something really good to put on Friday. Well this is a mash up between different designers with a lite cyberpunk theme. Add some neko all over it and you will get hot stuff to just good for heavy hitting blog posts.

Couple of months ago I was asking in Fashion Consolidated Cafe about the availability of fashionable cyberpunk wearable. The offer was kind of limited at that point, even it was clearly visible the steam-punk was a dying trend. To a simple search this morning I got a lot more hits than the last time. So, after a heavy duty fast shopping session this is what I came out with.
